Businesswoman by day and medical laboratory scientist by night, Jasmine Belton, MLS(ASCP) was born and raised in the small town of Monroe, La. Here she developed tenacity and a sense of awareness of the community surrounding her. The analytical mind that drives her to help save lives at night also fuels her ability to improve the livelihood of everyday people through community service and financial services. Passion for community service developed during her undergrad years where she served as both President and Vice President of the Kappa Theta Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. as well as other roles. She currently assists local non-profit B.R.I.D.G.E., Inc. as well as hosts monthly events here at The Butterfly Blogs.
As an MLS she works as a generalist helping in the departments of Chemistry and Hematology but mostly spends her shift in the Blood Bank preparing products for transfusion. Within her field she plans to implement some recruiting tactics to combat the shortage of workers nationally as well as encourage blood donations to combat the periodic shortages in products locally. Her current aspirations outside the lab include investing in small, Black-owned business. To help accomplish this she is currently pursuing an MBA with a concentration in finance. Along the way she assists families with financial services with a team of life insurance and investment coaches.
Her dream to be a lifestyle blogger initially began in 2018. Since then, she never let the thought leave her mind as life continued to refine her wisdom. Finally in February of 2021 the dream came into fruition. The Butterfly Blogs aims to be a safe place, or sanctuary, for people who aspire to improve themselves and the community. This lifestyle blog focuses on self-help, community service, and activism where our motto is to “be free.”
